black & whites

i just got a little giggle about the title...not only are the pictures done in black&white but my kids litteraly are...that was a pun not intended :)

i LOVE LOVE LOVE black & white photography! it's just so dramatic, however, i wish i could get my freakn' printer to print it the way it views on the screen. UGH!

new hair

this morning marcella was shopping in her hair stuff...which at this point has NEVER let me put in her hair...until today! she handed them to me, i asked her if she wanted me to put them in her hair, she said "yeah" in her excited cute voice. so before she could change her mind i put the piggy tails in. i proceeded to clap and tell her how pretty she looked and told her to look in her mirror. she walked over and proceeded to clap for herself. i think we've turned the corner on hair stuff, which is so exciting for me!

marcella JUST started walking...to try and get her feet a little more ready to walk i splurged and got her these really expensive shoes...ok, well not THAT expensive, but when you think they only wear them about 6 months before they get too small and they cost about as much as our shoes...it seemed a little excessive. marcella is my fashion queen, she loves to try on her hats and look at herself in the mirror, she puts necklaces on, and now shoes are her newest obsession. which brings me to the title of this post...auntie nicky you will have a shopping partner as soon as you move back! she loves to shop and try stuff on....right up your alley! so, mamasita this post is for you!!

for uncle R.J. & all the fallen heros today on Memorial Day

last year when i was taking pictures of the kids xavier said "mom, take one of me saluting because i love Uncle R.J." so, i did. xavier never knew Uncle R.J. but for some reason he feels a strong conection to him. Uncle R.J. was in the military and xavier loves all things military. he talks about him often and asks his dad lots of questions about what he did in the Navy, what his job was, how long he was in for. Xavier looks at Uncle R.J.'s picture a lot and says he wishes he could have met him.

so, today, Memorial Day, we honor Uncle R.J. and all the soldiers that have given their lives for us. BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i shot this, i thought oh yeah this one is going to be good...to date this is one of my favorite pictures i've taken. it was shot one year ago this month...wow has marcella grown!

this morning

taken just this morning. can i say how wonderful it is to have brian home more...

i didn't realize how much his job took away from family time. this time last year he could go 6 days and not see Marcella. sometimes he would only see her on the weekends because she was asleep when he left in the morning and gone to bed already by the time he got home from work. she asks for her daddy in the morning now instead of wanting me since brian's been the one getting her from bed now that quincy is home. she has always lit up when brian came into the room, but i notice the bond more that he's been able to spend more time with her. it's been great having an extra set of hands in the morning. i know it won't last forever but i am so greatful to have them right now.

ok, so after much debate i'm sending it out into the cyber world with a question of...

here are pics of all of the kids at the same age...who do you think looks similar to each other. please excuse the pic of me and xavier. as all of you mothers out there know, looking our best instant always a top priority when you've got a new baby at home :)

teeth

do, xavier had been bugging me about when his teeth would fall out, what the tooth fairy looked like, what does she do with the teeth when she collects them ect. well, about two weeks before his 6th b-day one of his lower teeth became loose. and boy did he wiggle, move and mess with it until it was barly holding on. so on his actual birthday he came to be and said that he thought it was ready and what should he do. i told him to yank it out. personally, knowing my son and the weany he can be i didn't think he had it in him to yank it out. i mean come on, i almost have to sedate him to cut his freakn' toe nails...ok?! but he manned up and yanked it out. he was a little shell shocked afterward, i kinda don't think he thought he had it in him either. but never the less the tooth fairy visited him (did you know she pays in dollars now...i think i got .25 for my first tooth)

1, 2,3 summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so those of us that live in oregon got some sun this weekend...and thank GOD! xavier's got his pool out, marcella has her little table and chairs, i pressure washed the deck (thank you mom and bahpoo), planted some flowers (thank you again dad and mindy), brian BBQ'd and the dogs ran and ran and rannnnnnnnnnnnnnn all weekend, and quincy well, he slept the whole time.
