who let the dogs out.....

all the kids LOVE the dogs and the dogs LOVE them. by the end of the day when the kids have been here all day you will find the dogs passed out, exhausted from chasing the ball, wrestling, and playing chase allllllll day long. marcella's newest phrase to say now is "GET DOWN"...which is what i yell at the dogs when the jump on the sofa to see which kid is at the door asking if xavier can play. anytime the dogs bark marcella yells "get down!" i guess i say that a lot since marcella is repeating me ;) could be worse...she could be repeating the 4 letter words too..lol!

watching the boys

Marcella loves to sit on the deck with her blanket and watch the boys play. she sometimes likes to get in "the middle of it all" and play with them. she's a pretty rough and tumble girl and can handle the boys, but sometimes she just likes to sit and watch.

the cool house........

apparently we've got the "cool house"....everyday all the neighborhood kids come by to see if xavier can play. they hang out in the backyard sit in the hot tub, have squirt gun battles, run with the dogs, and eat me out of house and home! it's been fun for him to have kids over everyday, it makes me think of when i was a kid and wished we had this kind of neighborhood with lots of kids but we lived where there weren't any. we would go to my aunt's house across burnside (yes, theo and i would cross that street everyday, back when there was no traffic light and was almost like frogger trying to run across the road with out getting hit by a car) and play with all the kids over there. kick the can, hide and go seek, we would play fetch with the neighborhood dog Ace, who was ALWAYS down for the ball to be thrown for him. our dogs get lots of love here. all the kids love to run with them, poor cassius forgets that he's an old man and out does himself and injures his leg. currently he's passed out on the floor recovering from last night's run with the kids.

happy 4th!

Happy 4th...well 5th of july ;) brian made it home safely from Florida...just in time for me to get sick and have him step in for me...thank god for him! we had friends coming over for a bbq that afternoon so i spent most of the day in bed...dying! xavier and his friends started their rock business early...no customers. by the end of the day they took the stand on the road. packed up some of their rocks and canvased the neighborhood looking for people to buy their rocks. when it was all said and done they made $3.83. big money when you're 6! xavier asked if he could stay up until is was dark to do the fireworks...since it was a "special" night as he called it. he also pointed out that you can't get "the full effect" (his words not mine) of the fireworks unless it's dark...can't argue with that. so he got to stay up until 9:30. with the kids down the street and their parents we lit off what we had bought. the one above was the our "finale" called the cricket. it was pretty cool and only cost $3.99. we then sat back and watched all the other fireworks in the neighborhood going off. they must have gone to vancouver because they had the real deal. HUGE ones going into the air...who needs to go downtown when we've got our own show right here! so, i hope all of you had a safe and happy 4th. i'm hoping the clouds burn off today and we get some heat :)

entrepreneurs

xavier's big plan these days is to make some fast cash. so he's taken to selling rocks (which he's now drawn faces on with the help of tiffany from down the street) and candy. he's made quiet the stand with the help of tiffany and the other kids in the neighborhood. the 14 year old down the street, grant, said that selling rocks was stupid since you can get free ones from your yard...typical teenager, dashing the hopes of the young ones. grant's a great kid, and he did have a point, the delivery could have been better! anyhoo, they keep trying to catch frogs with the hope that it will entice people to buy the rocks so that they can get a chance to hold the frog. xavier seems to think he's going to buy an RV for his dad with his rock money...that's a lot of rocks!

new jammies

Loving these new jammies from costco. light weight enough so that she doesn't roast in bed, but warm enough so that her Tootsie stay warm with the air conditioning on. tonight marcella took a shower instead of a bath. i call it the "rain" and usually she says no and just stands in the tub while i soap her down...but tonight she said "yeah" with her crooked little smile. she's never really liked sitting in the bathtub. the people that owned our house before us put those no-skid things on the bottom of the tub and i think she doesn't like how they feel on her bum. any suggestions on how to get them off without leaving the sticky parts behind and have to tub clean??????? i've tried but it leaves the edges of the shape and well, it looks gross!
