this is another story by xavier. this is a series of stories about his "best days". this was the day that brian's cousins chip and joyce to him and brian on their fishing boat. such fun memories for him :)
apparently having a banana on the boat while trying to fish is bad luck. who knew?!brian's cousin sharon bought this hat/scarf/glove set for miss marcella. since receiving this super fun gift she's incorporated it into her wardrobe everyday. today i thought it looked perfect with her princess pink dress :)
xavier made this for me for v-day. he made one for brian too but he took his to work. he colored the heart purple because he knows it;'s my favorite color :)

so xavier has been telling me that he's been helping out at recess. sweeping bark chips back into their zone, drying slides and swing seats. yesterday he was recognized for his help. so awesome! now if only i could get him to do this at home with the same amount of willingness. i tell him if he picks up the toys downstairs and puts them in their proper place i'll pay him .25...he has to stop and think about it...maybe i should switch to slips of paper ;)
so i've decided on a nickname for quincy....Tang, short for orangutan (ok, now i realize that orangutan doesn't end in a "G"...but i always thought it did...lol) anyhoo, i was reading about baby orangutans and their mamas. they like to stay very close to their mommies and have a very strong grip. they cling tightly to their moms necks to hold on. this is what quincy does. he's contantly climbing into my lap and then up the front of me to hang onto my shirt or hair. his little fists could turn coal into a diamond he has such a grip. so, quincy is my little orangutan baby holding on for dear life.
today is our first born's birthday!!! i can't believe that cassius is 8!!! the following are some pics from past birthday for him :)

this is one of the books that xavier worked on in writer's workshop. this program is during class. they go through the whole process of publishing a book, from writing, to editing, to publishing (which his teacher types out each book for all 23+ kids in the class each week at home no less...what a star she is!) and then illustrating. all weekend he thinks about the next book he's going to write. he loves drawing the pictures. so enjoy!

i know i'm always showing you guys my artwork so today i thought i'd showcase xavier's. he drew this for me the other night. i love all of his detail and thought process. we are at the beach, to the left there is a kite high in the air with a palm tree and a little crab walking towards quincy and a seagull flying above. then brian and i have the kids in the middle. sooooo fun!
as big sisters go marcella the bella is pretty stellah (ok, stellar but that didn't rhyme!) she does love her lil bro so much...sometimes tooooo much. she's getting better at not yanking things out of his hands...i've taught her to trade him for something else...he could care less, but it always seemed whatever he was playing with she wanted...isn't that the way it always goes?!

dancing in front of her mirror, one of her favorite past timesthis is his new favorite place to stand...the gate at the top of the stairs. i think i jiggle it about a 100 times when i walk by it to make sure it's ACTUALLY closed. a couple of months ago it wasn't shut all the way and he took a dive down ALLLLL 15 stairs...yeah, totally freaked us out. but he managed to survive with out even a bumb or bruise...you know if that was me, i'd be laid up for a month to re-coup!
