my peace builder

xavier was peace builder of the week last week. each week the teachers nominate from each grade a peace builder. if you are picked, you get to wear a medal, sing the friday song at the office with the VP over the loud speaker, you get to sit where ever you want at lunch, and you get a PE pass and music pass. xavier was SUPER excited to receive this honor. not sure why the date says november, must have run out of slips...but never the less, we are proud of him. he told me he hope martine luther king jr is proud of him up in heaven, and i said i'm most certainly sure he is ;)

hail to the chief

today marks a historic moment as we all know. there was a small party in the tacker house this morning. whoooping, hollering, dancing, twirling, laughing, crying, dogs barking. so amazing to see this. so proud we've come so far. hard to believe that brian's mom and dad at one point couldn't sit at the front of the bus and today a black man is DRIVING the "bus"...our great nation. god is good :)

apparently the tooth fairy recycles teeth

xavier has been asking me what the tooth fairy does with all of the teeth she gathers from all of the kids from around the world (he points how to me that's a lot of teeth mom!) yesterday during his smart center time (this is a time of day at school where the kids work on a project together that involves math, writing, reading, art ect...but learning through discovery) he picked a center on teeth. one of the projects was to draw a pic of the tooth fairy, the learned about the parts of teeth ect. so this brings me to his conclusion that she MUST recycle the teeth that are lost to babies that are getting new teeth...now there's an idea. as i'm writing this i'm now cringing at the thought of quincy's shinny new top teeth he got could have been another kids...eww, but god love xay with his ideas! anyway, here are some shots of quincy i took today...he's nine months old now...WOW!

marcella is a good "little mommy" and takes SUPER good care of her little brother. she won't let anyone (except for me) love on him. she pushes you away and says "no quincy" when she sits down to play she always brings her little bro a toy too, when she's eating something she shares with him whatever it is she's eating. this day happened to be a banana that quincy was giving a good stare down to. so she let him have a bite.

did you notice that quincy is on all fours??? last week he officially became a crawler. he now mastered sitting as well. he backed himself up right onto his bottom and then looked at me with his fabulously HUGE smile and looked at me like "mom, did ya see that??? i TOTALLY just sat down all on my own." holly smokes time is passing!
